Big surprise…, missed the golden 10,000 download number because didn’t get around to checking the stat’s last week

Good news too, received from a POS Reseller who has chosen to promote uniCenta oPOS, that they had done multiple installs into some restaurants and another for a retailer. In just one week!

Our target of hitting 10k downloads and then releasing version 3.0, which will include a significant uplift in functionality, has deviated a bit though as we’ve been adding extra functionalities in the interim releases.

Version 3.0 is coming, and it’s going to be a cracker, but right now you’re going to have to forgive us whilst we celebrate a bit

What a shocker!

Our free Point of Sale uniCenta oPOS is continuing to surprise. Pleasantly though and I know, I know it is April 1st, but this really ain’t no jape! (saving those for the guys here in the office – heh, heh)

So what’s it done now?

Well, it was only a week ago we saw the number of uniCenta oPOS downloads pop through the 6000 mark and we were proud to announce this achievement of course.
After a year of hard work crafting the app’, a lot of learning and putting in to practise the black-art of SEO, we’re now starting to see the real pay-back and we’re even happier than before to let everyone know that it’s passed 7000 only one week later!

As the saying goes “A picture speaks…” so I’ll let our Sourceforge uniCenta oPOS project stat’s say the rest.

uniCenta oPOS new language locales released today!

Beta Dutch, French, German and Spanish language/locales released today for uniCenta oPOS.
Includes revised label texts, though the the fourteen additional reports (not found in Openbravo POS version) have still yet to be translated in full.

Very happy that uniCenta oPOS went through the 5000 mark at end of Jan’, and even happier that it’s whizzed past 6000 over the last weekend.
Reason for this terrific uplift, OK we’re assuming it’s the reason, is we’ve been experimenting with SEO on both our main www.unicenta.net and www.unicentaopos.co.uk sites.

Both have seen significant visitor increases and the interest generated out of these clearly shows a trending towards mobile POS. So what we’ve decided to do in the coming weeks is split out our blog here into three distinct Categories;

Hospitality, Retail and Leisure
Mobile POS
Other

…of course there are going to be x-overs between each, but that’s no problem, we’ll just tune-up to adjust every now and again.

uniCenta oPOS shoots past 5000 Downloads!

We put up uniCenta oPOS for Download on Sourceforge beginning of May 2010 and since then have seen a steady rise of interest.
Over this last weekend we saw the number of Downloads from our site shoot past the 5,000 mark.

We’re also getting more positive feedback and compliments which, of course, we’re always real happy to receive!

Now wondering how long it’s going to take to go through 10,000

Microsoft closed down their Blog efforts recently and linked up with WordPress to offer residents a new home.
Moving to our new home here on WordPress and the automated transfer of all our stuff from our Microsoft Blog was simple and painless.

…been a while.

Have had lots to do in last week and decided to put updating the blog off up until now.

Well, am happy to say the long-awaited bike arrived…. and what a bike! Here it is…

It arrived over a week ago… managed to take it for a quick spin the day after but since then I’ve not had an opportunity to put it to the test. So far so good though. Absolute delight, stunning ride I have to say and everything I envisioned it to be all those weeks past, it has not disappointed.

There’s one spooky thing; if you look closely at the stem (that’s the thing that holds the handlbars) you’ll see a little box sat on top of it. It’s a Sigma computer and… I actually visualised this (remember I told you about riding the bike "in my head" before it arrived). I didn’t pay it much attention at the time. It was just there. A natural and component part of the whole experience in my head. But, the fact that it is really there illustrates the depth of "detail" such visions can be, even of those seemingly insignificant things which make up the whole, and as in my case, moving picture.

Right, now I’m going to to stick to the spirit of why I started this whole blog thing and come to a conclusion. I can hear sighs of relief all round and exclamations of "just how long does it take to get to the point"… and you’ve read my little stories so far and you are here. Whether or not you can see the point in all of this really doesn’t matter because, here’s the thing:

This blog is the result of me "feeling" I had to create a blog site (at the time, and even a little now, I ask myself "Why?"). What’s the purpose? Don’t know. To this day, I don’t know why. I really don’t. Was it/ Is it the compulsion to do what those on the "journey" (I mentioned in an earlier post) feel compelled to do? Erm…. Yes…. Maybe, that might have something to do with it, but I’m suspecting what it really is, is a subtle, yet strong, immutable force within us all we have forgotten about. And, it may just be true that we’ve really had the beauty, uniqueness and power of who we are and what we are capable of sucked out of us by "the system" (from a very early age!!).

Exploiting our "gifts" for ourself is so easy. And, if you don’t believe anything else… believe you are special… and believe, like I did when I was at my lowest point, you can achieve anything… anything your heart desires (be practical about this of course… forget the fairy story stuff. I mean; you’re not likely to be able to bring back your pet dog, Trixie, you doted on when you were five from the heavenly kennels are you) and it will come true. One way or another I assure you it will happen. If you decide. It will happen. Remember these three things:

Do it!

Enjoy it!

Feel it!

But, you know what, here’s the thing; I truly believe there will come a day when the reason for all of this will be revealed to me and these few words are not insignificant in the swirling digital blizzard of the internet. If this blog helps only one person raise themselves out of the nadir of their life whether for one day or even during a fleeting thought I know it is part of my "journey".

And, guess what? I can proudly say; I have now completed the third post on my own blog site and along the way; I did, "it"; I enjoyed, "it"; and feel it was worth, "it".

P.S.: Confession time. First ride… wasn’t 50+ miles. More like 15. (failure?)

…but it will forever remain one of the most memorable 15 miles on a bike I’ve ever had. The smile was on my face before I received it; when I rode it for the first time and even now whilst I write this post. (Success!)

Doing works… so does Enjoying… now how about some Feeling!

Let me get the reason for this post out of the way.

It’s a follow-up to my the first post. Ha! No secret there then, eh Jack. Thanks for sharing that with us. After all isn’t that what these bloggie things are all about? True. Very true. But I’m trying not to make this about me and bikes. Too indulgent. What I really want is to share with you what I discovered, and continue to discover everyday by the way, during "the blip" in my life all those months ago.

The best way I can relate things to you, for the moment that is, is to tell little stories in the wish that somehow they may be of use. Why do that Jack? Why do you think you need to help? Because, that’s me (a discovery moment). It makes me feel good to help moreover, I feel it is the right thing to do. Also, everyone else I know who is on the "journey", which I can only describe as "awareness", does the same. For some reason we all want to share what we discover… with you (perfect timing for me here to slot in a big THANK YOU to all those who have helped me along the way). It seems we are compelled, for whatever reason. Whoa’, come to think about it; does that open up some provocative thoughts or what.

Don’t expect me to go into serious-mode, deep-think, self-indulgent analysis about any of this either, because I’m going to leave that to the thousands of others out there who, by one means or another, espouse methods like NLP; Positive thinking & etc…. Over to them. Should you go to them - and you really should – you will find such an abundance of knowledge there it is mind-blowing. Equally it’s difficult to know where to start. But, start you must.

Let the guru’s guide you but, perhaps, you might want to hold this thought; keep hold of your mind (you’ll understand later). You’re your own greatest teacher and mentor (you just don’t know it yet). Let’s face it, there is no doubt what you can gain, can be enormously helpful, But remember this; it is simply an export of their thoughts; their knowledge, and their experience. It is in their mind.

Which is fine for them but, what about you? Books, videos, CD’s, courses, seminars and so on… All available easily. All packed with fantastic knowledge and experiences ready for you to start your "journey". And, start you must. Yet which route should you take? Just decide. There is no right or wrong route. Trust your own judgement and do what you feel is right. It will be.

Yet, what these guru’s cannot do, and I am absolutely convinced of this, is they cannot teach you how to feel. If you’ve lost it, or some of it, and want to get some of it back. Just trust yourself.

Happily, this leads nicely into my little story below;

…well, you know the bike I won in the competition… still waiting for it… had a call from Halfords yesterday to arrange delivery it will be here next week. Can’t wait to see, feel & ride it. So I’m not.

What, not?

I’m not waiting!

As I write I’ve got a a smile on my face, and visions are zipping through my head like; I’m admiring the paint job (red & black) and, learning how to up-shift the Shimano gears on the hills near my office. Shimano=Japanese and I’ve always been a Campagnolo (Italian) man myself… like a bit of Italian style… but hey ho, if top-pro teams can use Shimano; then they’re more than good enough for me. I can even see myself looking down at the top of the handlebars.

The point is you see, I already know what it is going to feel like to ride out there on the road because I’m doing a 50+ mile ride (in my head you understand) right now. It’s light; responsive; the power goes down through the legs and straight to the wheels. Fantastic! The bike is great! I Love it! And, I haven’t even received it yet.

So, when I do get to ride it, it can’t possibly be anything else other than wonderful can it? It can’t, because I have set the expectation and outcome. I can’t feel anything else other than that come the day.

There you have it; Big feelings for me… None for you. Right? And I’m guessing not even a hint of a smile. Yes? Thought so. Don’t worry. I understand. I really do.

And, this is my point: feeling is singular. It is personal. It is yours. Unique to ones-self and to no other.

You should "get some feeling, man". I mean, c’mon, do yourself a real big favour; Get some of it… Like Now… Today!

And, you know what; I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Apart from anything else you have chosen (haven’t you?) not to feel disappointed - Cogito, ergo Sum (look it up).

Personally, I had to make a real conscious effort in the beginning of my "journey". I started with small things. It didn’t matter what it was. Stuff that was seemingly irrelevant, day-to-day, mundane even. It could have been a thing; a person; a thought… anything I chose, any thing at all. It was all good fodder for processing. Then one day; the light went on above my head (yep, just like in the cartoons… I kid you not) and it all started to make sense. I could turn negative feelings in to positives quicker than a calculator; dark in to light in the blink of an eye; and unhappiness into joy at any time of my choosing, and with it all came… feeling.

Works a treat for me now and do you know what; when the bike comes, and I’ve done my first ride, I can accurately predict I’m going to enjoy it!

What’s more thinking like this has got this second blog post done.
